TIM BECKHAM Tim has been in Driver Education for 8 years. He has been the VP of Oregon Driver Education Center for 6 years, a Trainer of Trainer with Western Oregon University for 4 years, and a Master Trainer with Western Oregon University for 2 years. Tim has presented at conferences and workshops throughout the nation. He participated in the National Teacher Training Workshop put on by ADTSEA last year and he presented at this year’s ADTSEA conference and was a Teacher of Excellence Award winner this year.
TRAVIS GORDON Travis started his driver education career as a certified instructor in 2014 for Oregon Driver Education Center. Travis joined Western Oregon University as a Trainer of Trainer in Summer of 2018. Travis has presented at multiple conferences throughout the state. He is enjoying his time helping turn great students into Driver Education instructors. Travis is also a certified DMV drive tester who has helped drivers of all ages receive their driver license. He’s helped teach defensive driving classes for many fleet companies and state agencies.
SERGEANT DARREN WRIGHT (WSP) Sergeant Darren Wright was hired by the Washington State Patrol (WSP) in 1991 as a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer. In 2000 he became a Trooper and worked in commercial vehicle enforcement until 2012. He has worked general traffic law enforcement and as a district Public Information Officer (PIO). In 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant assigned to Chehalis. He has worked at the Special Operations Division where he served in roles supervising the security detail at the Governor’s Mansion and supervising the Security Detail at the Capitol Campus. He currently holds the position of Headquarters PIO assigned to the Government and Media Relations Division. Sgt. Wright attained his Bachelor’s degree From Southern New Hampshire University in Communications/ Public Relations. He is currently a graduate student studying Communications/ Public Relations and expects to graduate with a Master’s degree next summer.
MARK BUTCHER Mark is a retired mechanical engineer who has spent the last 8 years campaigning in Washington State for improved road safety in general, and driver training and testing in particular. He was awarded the Washington State Target Zero 2015 Award for Achievements in Traffic Safety in the Young Drivers category and the NHTSA 2017 Public Service Award. PAM MEYERS Pam retired in 2019 from the Washington State Department of Licensing as the Curriculum and Testing Specialist where she was responsible for developing the new Washington State driver training curriculum. Pam was a credentialed teacher in both California and Washington, and earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from UC Berkeley. MARK and PAM, founded the Driver Development Project, which is a collaborative volunteer effort focused on improving driver education, testing, instructor training, and traffic safety policy.
